Every artist or art lover can volunteer to share their creative talents to the benefit of others. I went to Volunteermatch to find a good fit for me. Another great source of projects is Taproot. Whether it's helping do design work, website design, art teaching, art therapy or something else, you can be a great helping hand to a not for profit organization. You just set up your preferences including locations nationwide. Sign up if you have even one hour you can lend a hand. The rewards on both sides are priceless.

The Cultural Center of PVB is a great resource for local artists and the community at large. Volunteers are always welcome whether it is helping with summer camps or helping get the space ready for an exhibition or event. Contact the Cultural Center to make yourself known as a willing volunteer.

I had the privilege of teaching people undergoing cancer treatment or organ transplants, and their carers, holding art classes at Gabriel House of Care in Jacksonville. We produced come great art pieces as you can see from our gallery but, more importantly, it is a place to switch off and relax after a day of hospital appointments with a group of people who chat and pass the time. Any creative talents or relaxation skills are most welcome in this therapeutic environment.

Some people simply come along and help cook a meal at the end of a hard day, play music or entertain. Find your niche and volunteer when you can in whatever way you can.
