Watercolor Process

I've been working on watercolor landscapes this summer. It has been too hot here in Florida for me to paint plein air. I've gathered some digital images of my favorite spots and using them on my iPad screen as points of reference for my paintings. I'm trying to capture a variety of local landmarks, many of them photographed on my evening walks with Velvet. I'm working with a new palette so I've been looking for images with many different colors and tones to push me as a lay down washes, mingle colors and layer the paints throughout. I took the latest image I'm working on at The Players' Championship course. It's walking distance from my house and irrisistible subject being one of the most photographed and painted golf course holes currently. Take a look at the stages in the development of this painting and then compare it to an earlier painting I did of the same hole called "Pink Out at TPC Seventeen".
