Expanding Framing Knowledge

It was an unusually rainy day today so I was very glad to have enrolled in a class at my local arts center to learn more about framing my artwork for gallery shows. Patti Lorimier, Framing and Gallery 1037 Manager for Reddi-arts in Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville discussed the do’s and dont’s giving great advice to a group of about 15 local emerging artists. She brought along her own personal gallery of pastels, photographs, oils, acrylics and watercolors from home to bring her framing advice to life. Patti covered everything from archival methods, matboard, mounting hardware to dust covers. Her views on the pros and cons of plexiglass vs glass for different types and sizes of work was informative. Her tips on mounting and cleaning the surfaces led to lively discussion. She left time at the end for artists to receive her expert framing advice on their current pieces. It was such a great way to spend a Saturday morning. I feel so fortunate to have access to such talent so close to home. Well done to the team at the Cultural Center in Ponte Vedra Beach for yet another great offering on their adult program of classes and workshops.
